I hate to brag, but my family has been eating avocado toast since before I was born. I think I was weaned on the stuff. Now it’s trendy, with recipes popping up everywhere. My family are such trendsetters! Really though, avocado toast is scrumptious. I’m so glad everyone is catching on to that fact!
The thing about avocado toast is, it should be made with stuff that you already have in your kitchen. It’s a quick, easy snack or meal and can be loaded with leftover meat, or chickpeas, or just plain tomato and garlic. Avocado toast should be simple, and that is what I’ve set out to show you.
Basic Avocado Toast:
Basic avocado toast involves some sort of bread (preferably rustic), rubbed with a clove of garlic before toasting, then piled with avocado and tomatoes. Olive oil and salt complete the recipe. How easy is that? I also love to top the basic avocado toast with fresh basil leaves.
Here are some more avocado toast ideas, just to spark your imagination. For the toasts that could use garlic, such as the black bean, the crab, and the asparagus, just lightly rub the bread with a cut garlic clove before toasting. Some toasts, like the prosciutto with blue cheese, taste better sans garlic. ENJOY!
