Classic Chili Recipe

This classic chili recipe is my favorite batch-cooked meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds ground beef
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 2 large cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 cans red kidney beans drained
  • 2 yellow onions chopped
  • 3-4 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ancho chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large heavy pan or pot.
  2. Add onions and garlic and cook on medium heat for around 5 mins, until onions are translucent.
  3. Add spices and cook for another 1-2 mins.
  4. Turn heat to high and add ground beef, cooking until meat is browned.
  5. Add the beans, tomatoes, and tomato paste.
  6. Simmer chili for 20-30 mins, until excess liquid cooks off.
  7. Serve with cheese, sour cream, avocado, cilantro, and hot sauce 👍
